“I owe Tolkien everything” – an interview with Kylie Leane

Kylie Leane has quickly won a number of appreciative fans of her work since joining Middle-earth network, justifiably so. Her in-depth posts revealing fascinating insights into her writing and her breathtakingly good artwork are a pleasure to read through, so I was especially lucky to be able to sit down with Kylie for an hour or so earlier this week and chat to her about her work and her passion for fantasy & sci fi.

Rather than writing up what was an extensive interview, we’re making the complete interview available for you to listen to. In a wide-ranging discussion Kylie gave us insights into how she discovered fantasy and Tolkien, how she started writing, the background to her stories, her travel misadventures, looking forward to joining the New Zealand tour, useful tips for writing and drawing and all about her brilliant digital art. Kylie is as interesting to listen to as she is to read and I hope you enjoy listening!

We’re delighted to be able to announce today that we’ll all be able to enjoy a lot more of Kylie’s art on Middle-earth network, as her pieces will be included in the news site! I’m sure you’ll be as excited about that as I am and looking forward to seeing what she’ll be creating for us to enjoy.

  5. I think we’re extremely fortunate to have Kylie among us, and I think we’re equally fortunate to have this guy by the name of Periannath who has been kicking ‘arse’ with his great articles lately.

Kylie’s work is brilliant on so many levels. Thanks for sharing part of you with all of us.
