Moot of the Muses:Â A Gathering of Sight, Sound and Word
June 1, 2012 at 10pm EST
From the beginning, the Middle-Earth Network has been graced with presence of many talented individuals, such as artists Jef Murray and Ted Nasmith, musician John di Bartolo, actor Tyler Michael Jonsson, and many others. And those ranks have only grown over the last year as the Network has expanded. We are surrounded by artists, novelists, poets, musicians, coders and craftsmen of various kinds. What to do with all of this experience and creativity?
We at the network foresee a bright future stemming from the many unique intra and cross discipline collaborations that are possible here. To that end, we are holding a network wide Moot of the Muses. This Moot will allow many of the artists, writers, musicians both young and old to get to know each other, benefit from the experience of others and begin exploring new collaborations.
Some things that we will be discussing during the Muse Moot will be:
The possibility of setting up Inkling-style sessions in Teamspeak and/or the network chat in which people can share what they have been working on and get constructive feedback from the their peers, helping everyone to develop their own projects. These could be done for many different art forms separately or in conjunction with others and then recorded for the benefit of new members or others who can’t make every session.
Exploring the many possibilities for collaborative projects. Some examples would be artists helping to make maps for novelists, writers helping artists define the characters they envision, musicians putting to music the songs of novelists and poets, and even all of the above helping to develop other media such as table-top games.
Building a world. There are projects underway that could allow us to participate in the creation of a brand new virtual world, filled with geography, cultures and myths of our own design. The sky is no limit on this one!
So join us on Friday, June 1 after Warriors of the Westfold 10PM EST for the Moot of the Muses and help us launch a new era in High Fantasy and Science Fiction!

Really wish I had some talent to share
All I do is gobble up every tidbit of info put out about LOTR by all those who are talented. Thanks for making my life richer all you talented people!
I”M IN! If you can use some of my Tolkien/Howard Shore inspired music, please let me know!
Thanks,
Arjan
I shall try my darndest to be there! I am, however, rather famous for losing track of time once I sit in front of the computer…. or forgetting what day it is… *sigh*
Diamond! You have to be there! I mean if Arjan Kiel is coming, you don’t get off the hook.
And knowfere, you can still come! Who knows what listening to these creative types will lead to!
I am so excited for this… but I’ll have to be the mute muse -_-; an evil sea-witch took my voice and didn’t even leave a tail in exchange.
Can’t wait myself! Mere hours away now!
We’ll everyone in the Rabbit Room on Teamspeak right after Warriors of the Westfold tonight! In case you are one of those who can’t get Teamspeak to work, we will also be manning the network chatroom so everyone can participate.
I won’t be able to do Teamspeak so will have to use the network chatroom.
I may not be here for the moot, I have had tickets for the Milwaukee Symphony for a bit now for my birthday.
I’m talentless, but I’ll be there!
Your talent is being awesome Bandoras
What would we do without you ^^
I am a musician and an artist to a small extent. I love to see others out there that feel the same about the tolkien world as my wife and I do!
It was awesome. Everyone who was not there… YOU MISSED IT.
