The Hobbit Ranks Fifth in NPR’s Top One Hundred List of Young Adult Novels

NPR recently published their Top 100 Best-ever Teen Novels list, with The Hobbit predictably occupying a comfortable spot at number five. The Lord of the Rings sits only two spots down at number seven. The pollsters originally received over 1200 nominations, which they managed to narrow to 235 finalists. You can read a more about that selection process here.

We’re not at all surprised that our favorites scored so high on the list (though some may be irked to see Harry Potter and The Hunger Games at first and second places, respectively)!

  1. Harry Potter is a bit early to call. We’ll have to see if it ages well. Hunger Games is totally a sign of the times.
